Montejo House Museum

The Montejo's House was built in the 16th century in the historical center of Merida, it is the only example of civil house of Renaissance style in Mexico. It was constructed between 1542 and 1549 by the conqueror of Yucatan Francisco de Montejo, who raised it as his familiar residence. Throughout the centuries, the construction has received several modifications and restorations by its owners, remaining his impressive entrance. Nowadays in the house one finds a site museum operated by Fomento Cultural Banamex. The decoration represents the last quarter of the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th century, when Yucatan was one of the richest states in the country. Also the museum has three rooms for temporary exhibitions that they will allow to develop the artistic appraisal; a boutique - bookshop of Popular Mexican Art; an interactive center and a workshop for educational services

The museum is opened for the public from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00 hrs. and on Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00 hrs. Guided tours: from Tuesday to Saturday at 11:00, 13:00 and 17:00 hrs. and on Sundays 11:00 and 13:00 hrs. All services are free
